The High Priestess

General Meaning
The High Priestess guards the mysteries. In silence and contemplation, she holds a deep inner knowledge that only intuition can unveil.
Seated and motionless, The High Priestess holds an open book on her lap that she does not read: she already knows it. A veil behind her separates the visible world from what must remain hidden. Her three-tiered tiara speaks of spiritual authority; her cloak, of inwardness. She is the keeper of mysteries, the silent memory, the knowledge that ripens in shadow before revealing itself.
In a reading, The High Priestess calls for patience and inner listening. Something is forming that is not yet ready to hatch: a project in gestation, a secret, a knowledge to deepen. She favors study, intuition and the inner life, and advises keeping to yourself what does not need to be said. Her shadow: passivity, withdrawal, difficulty expressing feelings.
